There’s something really satisfying about a de clutter.
Hands up if you’re with me.
Well, last night I managed to obliterate a mountain of
material (mostly old receipts, hand scribbled grocery notes and the like) that had
been hoarding itself in my home office/craftroom for weeks. Okay, so truthfully
paper cannot multiply unassisted…surprise! It was me, all me together with an ‘I’ll
do that later’ attitude.
Anyway, right about at the point where I could actually see that I did indeed have a
desk under all that stuff, I started wishing I had taken a before and after
photo. You know as proof that you too can have a clutter free zone in minutes
if you JUST DO IT ALREADY. Lucky for you I quickly came to the realisation that
no one is ever really interested in looking at someone else’s junk and instantly
felt better that I’d spared you.
Also, one well known fact about myself is that I tend work so much
more productively in a clutter free zone. Even the hardest of tasks seem easier
if I only have what I need to have around me to get it done, and less of what I don’t.
Sure, it's not rocket science…but sometimes we all need a little reminder.
Weighing in at just 400g back in early June, Archie is now a whopping 1.1kg. He's growing up so fast.
From day one he's been a little beauty. First, I worried he would cry all night after he got put to bed, but instead he always sleeps right through until when he hears my alarm in the morning.
Then, I thought he could well be a fussy eater (as some small breed dogs tend to be) but again, total foodie and eyes off my dinner after polishing off his own. Perhaps he should have been named 'Turkey' because I'm sure before too long he will be the size of one!
And have I mentioned clever? A few weeks ago I taught him to 'sit' with a little help from a tasty beef schmacko after only just a couple of attempts! And yesterday was take two of going for a walk wearing a collar and lead, of which was without much objection. No one needs to know that it's actually a kitten collar and had to punch a few extra holes to shorten it.
Oh that face melts my heart!
Have a great weekend xx
ANGEL FOOD CAKE
{Serves 8 – 10}
So, this is the yumminess that can happen when it’s late in the afternoon but one still wants to make a cake for ones birthday. Accidentally then cut a layer larger than the other, so unsuccessfully try to hide it with whipped cream and strawberries. What the hell right? After all, it is my birthday and I’ll eat misshapen cake if I want to.
INGREDIENTS
6 egg whites
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
220g (1 cup) caster sugar
100g (2/3 cup) plain flour, sifted
1 1/2 cups thickened cream
2 teaspoons caster sugar
Strawberries, halved
Icing sugar, for dusting
Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F). Line the base of an 8 inch pan with non-stick baking paper.
Place the egg whites, cream of tartar and salt into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment*. Whisk on medium high speed until soft peaks form. Add the vanilla extract. Gradually add the sugar (two tablespoons at a time) whisking well after each addition, until the mixture is thick and glossy. Fold in the flour until combined.
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and gently smooth the surface.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and firm to touch. Turn the cake pan upside down on a wire rack lined with non-stick baking paper. Allow the cake to cool completely. Remove the cake pan and invert the cake. Either cut the cake into two even layers or leave whole.
In a clean mixing bowl, add the cream and whisk until soft peaks. Add the caster sugar and continue to whisk until thick and the sugar has dissolved.
Spread the cream onto each cake layer, top with the halved strawberries and dust with icing sugar.
* You can also use a hand held mixer if you do not have a stand one.
There’s no denying it’s autumn when all the leaves start to turn is it? From green to yellow, to orange, to red, to brown and into black. It’s one of my favourite times of year so why not bring a little of the outdoors in with this super easy project.
SUPPLIES
Autumn leaves
Frame
Hot glue gun
Step 1 – Collect a bundle of fallen leaves and divide into several colour groups; green, yellow, orange, brown, red, black etc.
Step 2 – Select a leaf or two from each colour group and arrange onto the frame backing board. You may need to remove a few stems to help the leaves to lay flat.
Step 3 – Once you’re happy with the design, use a hot glue gun to adhere the leaves in place.
Step 4 – Secure into the frame and you’re done.
NOTE: After framing the leaves continue to change colour as they dry out.
Enjoy xx
Let me introduce to you Archie. He is a miniature foxy x silky terrier and what he lacks in stature he makes up for in get up and go!
Cutest face of all time right there.
{when a small bed and bone makes him look err… even smaller}

I come across a tutorial that instantly screams to me "make it, make it now!". These gorgeous marbled votives are no exception.
Guess who will be on the hunt for a set to play around with this weekend??
I made a beautiful wedding cake (mentioned back here). You’ll see it in detail very soon.
We celebrated Mother’s Day with a delicious slow cooked chicken dish followed by a white chocolate cheesecake. Yum!
All the trees in our yard turned orange, yellow and red before all but blowing away in the winter wind.
Saw ‘The Great Gatsby’.
And enjoyed one very lazy Sunday. A rarity in itself.
