…Sooty & Fo lounging around on a Sunday.
Winter trees
My winter trees earrings arrived all the way from the Ukraine. I love them.
Afternoon tea treats
I made these little lovelies for an afternoon tea function last Saturday. Espresso macarons, toasted coconut cupcakes and mini berry tarts.
Despite the severe humidity of late, thankfully the macarons didn't suffer too badly…nothing that a little drizzle of chocolate couldn't hide anyway.
And the pastry cream in the tarts was to die for! The pastry cream recipe was from the book Sugar Baby by Gesine Bullock-Prado, which I purchased just before Christmas. It is sugar heaven.
Happy weekend.
Happy Monday

Pretty polish {step right up}
I love O.P.I polishes and this colour, Step Right Up from the Femme De Cirque collection is fast becoming a favourite.
A novel read…
I read the novel One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus over the Christmas holidays…and loved it. I could barely put it down and had to keep reminding myself that it was actually ficticious.
MATTY
Matty loves:
- bossing stable mate Bear around at feed time
- cavorting around the paddock like a 4 year old…despite his actual age
- when I hold a piece of bread for him while he takes just one bite at a time
- giving Sooty a smooge everytime he’s on the nearest fence post to him
- following me around the paddock
- insisting on pulling idle rugs off fences…anything hanging near him is fair game!
Matty has been in our family now for just over 11 years and is an absolute pleasure to own and ride (competively and casually). He’s just such a sweetie.
FO
Fo (short for Faux Pas) is the sweetest, softest little one.
Fo loves:
- hiding in the back garden
- sleeping curled up on fresh bales of hay
- rolling around on the lawn under my feet while I hang washing out
- her ‘surprise’ pounce attacks (although I can often see her coming)
- stealing a cuddle, before Sooty gatecrashes
Sadly on 7 September 2013 we had to say goodbye to our precious little Fo. We will forever miss her gentle presence and feather light cuddles.
Rain, rain, go away. It's still teeming down at the moment and is supposed to hang around for the next couple of days. Thankfully I had no particular Australia Day plans set for tomorrow…but I can imagine there'll be quite a number of cancelled barbeques and picnics.
It's also an extra long weekend for me as my office was kind enough to close on Friday, so I'll have plenty of time to cut out this dress, and put a border on the charm quilt that I started on Christmas Day (it's the Coming Home quilt from Camille Roskelley's book, Simplify – Quilts for the Modern Home) but I made mine a little larger with use of a second charm pack. I love all of her quilts and have already picked out which one I'd like to start next!
Happy Australia Day for tomorrow!
