Advent calender 2012
Come Christmas time and anything I make tends to receive a little dousing of glitter. This years advent calender is no exception! I love the super cute vintage feel to this one and I've already thought of about a hundred different ways to re-use my diy glittered pegs. Score!
If you want to get your hands on some of those sweet little envelopes, mine came from Follow Studio.
DIY // Braid Tee
I bought this braid from M & J Trim in New York way back in March, when Amanda & I were on holiday together. Amazingly it’s the only thing I walked out of there with…but for anyone who hasn’t been there, just check out what I was up against here. And that was just one wall. I could have gone CRAZY.
Anyway, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it…I just had to wait impatiently for the weather to warm up.
Measuring tape
Step 1 – Match the two straight sides of the braid, slightly overlapping one onto the other. Stitch together.
NOTE: If your braid is already one symmetrical piece, you move straight onto Step 2.
Step 2 – Determine the centre of the neckline and place a pin. Repeat for the hemline and also at several intervals between, using the side seams as your guide.
Centre the braid on the neckline over the pin and re.jpgn to secure it in place. Continue down the tee, re.jpgnning the braid at the marked intervals and at the hemline.
Step 3 – Using a straight stitch, carefully sew down the centreline of the braid, removing the pins as you go.
Step 4 – Trim the excess braid to about one inch in length and fold over the neckline and hemline and pin in place.
Step 5 – Sew approximately 1/4 inch in from the neckline and hemline to secure the braid.
Enjoy xx

Well folks, summer has arrived. At 9am yesterday morning it was already a toasty 27ºC and rising…ouch!
Is this not the most adorable little deer you've ever seen?…Hmm, I thought so.
And I mean 'oh deer' quite literally. Within hours of taking this photo I dropped and smashed him (well, gave him two broken legs to be precise). I was so annoyed with myself..I cried. I then spent the next half hour crawling around on the floor trying to find all his bits, determined to put him back together. Yep, thank you hormones for making me behave like a crazy person.
Anyway, armed with a little super glue and a whole lot of patience his tiny kickers are now as good as new 🙂 See him debut next Christmas inside my DIY Waterless Snow Globe tutorial. Can't wait xx.

My weekend really flew by. Christmas lights were hung, tree decorated, bought more Christmas lights (seems there's a little 'lights' fever going on this year), ate out on Saturday night, watched Skyfall and capped Sunday off with a glass of wine.
This week my number one goal is to finish the Christmas stockings, the extra ornaments I'm making for the tree and wrap everyone's gifts. Busy busy 🙂
Relax.
Before falling into the OMG IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS AND I SO DON'T HAVE MY S**T TOGETHER abyss, I'd like to offer that little piece of advice to myself.
Anyone else on the precipice right now?? Good, I feel so much better already.
I was doing OK for maybe what, the first 5 minutes into December…but there's still so much to do. Sew together six half cut out Christmas stockings that I started two weeks ago, design and post cards to family and friends, attend a neighbourhood party, cater for a work do, deliver a hamper, hang Christmas lights, bake sugar cookies and finally put up our beloved tree that for the moment remains firmly jammed in too small a box. Just excuse me while I go hyperventilate in a corner somewhere 🙂
What ever happened to being Miss Super Organised? For the moment it seems she is lost in between Miss I Can't Get To Work On Time and Miss Sleep is for Suckers!
Thankfully, I have at least one thing under control for the moment. After deciding this year to forego the two minute gift opening session on Christmas morning (the downfall of a 'secret santa' Christmas for small families) and buy lots of little things for everyone, I shopped early. That's right, no dodging of tanty throwing toddlers or Hunger Games style shopping experiences for me this year. Hoorah!

DIY // 10 Step Basic Manicure
Thankfully I’ve been blessed with strong healthy nails (despite the battering they get on a keyboard all day, and let’s not forget riding, feeding and rugging a horse, gardening etc) but once a week it only takes a quick 10 step basic manicure to help keep them that way. I also love the fact that it feels like I’m really spoiling myself, without the expense of visiting a salon.
For a fresh clean look use a nude coloured polish. I have used Step Right Up by O.P.I purely because I love their polishes and I have an embarrasingly large collection!
SUPPPLIES
Nail file
Buffing board
Cuticle stick
Nail clippers and trimmers
Moisturing hand soap
Cuticle oil
Base coat
Nail polish
Top coat
HOT TIP: Up until recently I completely underrated the importance of Step 3. Can I tell you it has made all the difference in a longer lasting, shinier finish to my manicure.
Enjoy xx
