After accomplishing this pretty cluster (my first attempt I might add!) for a Mother's Day cake I made for Mum last year, the delicate art of sugar flowers had me hooked. Totally hooked.
Just over twelve months on and I am still in complete awe of how with such few ingredients, combined with a little technique and a gentle hand, you can re-create blooms almost as gorgeous as their real life counterpart.
It's almost been that long too since I last made some pretty orange and yellow poppies for a 'mock' wedding cake challenge that Amanda and I set for ourselves. Yes, we are a little OCD about not only cakes but weddings too :)
No wonder I'm really craving settling in for a day of cutting, rolling and shaping petals, and then another waiting anxiously for them to dry before meticulously colouring and wiring them together.
